2am: dessert bar

Desserts are live. Recently, I visited 2am: dessert bar.
2am: dessert bar is opened by Chef Janice Wong. She has received worldwide recognition for her cutting-edge creations and is a regular on the global pop-up circuit - proof that 2am:dessertbar is more than just a sugar-rush. She has recently been awarded ASIA'S BEST PASTRY CHEF at the prestigious San Pellegrino Asia Top 50 2013.
In Season 7 masterchef Australia, one of the challenge was to recreate her Cassis Plum.
You can view the menu here.

One thing about this dessert bar is the service the provide. They are very friendly and they even take the time to explain each elements in your dish!

The bar

The foods:
Top: Purple
Bottom: Tiramisu

Purple: purple potato puree, blackberry parfait, leather, lavender marshmallows, fruits of the forest sorbet.
Tiramisu: kahlau jelly, espresso ice cream.

The purple potato puree is the base of this dish. When I first tasted the purple potato puree, the first thought that came into my mind was 'why is the potato so salty?'. The rest of the component was not too bad. I guess the saltiness was to balance the tart taste from the berries?

I am totally in love with the tiramisu! The espresso ice cream has a rich coffee taste and is made out of grinned coffee beans. The mascarpone is so light and fluffy and the coffee flavoured cake is moist yet not overly soaked with coffee. Only a few cubes of kahlau jelly is at the bottom of the dish. This is a must try dish for all coffee and tiramisu lover!

Cassis Plum
Cassis Plum: cassis bombe, elderflower yogurt foam, choya granita, yuzu pearls, yuzu rubies.

I had high expectations for this dish but after tasting it, I don't think I will be ordering it again. I find that the choya overpowers the dish a tat too much.

Cheese Cake
Cheese Cake: baileys, passionfruit blanket, malt ice cream.
The cheese cake was pretty good.It was light and fluffy. Would have liked a bigger piece haha.

2am: Fonffle™
2am: Fonffle™: 64% chocolate fondant waffle, blood orange sorbet.

The waffle was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, which was really good. They gave a generous amount of chocolate (which was really good) but it gets too cloyed over time as the chocolate is too rich in flavour. For people who really likes thick, rich chocolate, this is the one for you! The blood orange sorbet is a to die for. I'm not really a huge fan of orange favours, but this made my fall in love with it instantly!

So if you're finding a place to chill late at night with good desserts, head down to 2am for some sweet treats!
